The Romans Road To Salvation

Why can’t everyone just go to heaven?

Romans 3:23  ”For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.”

In our natural state, God sees us as lost sinners.  We are all headed to a place of eternal reward.

Where will we go?

Romans 6:23  “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The Bible calls the second death the “Lake of Fire.”  As we sin in our lives, we will pay later in hell.  “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.  This is the second death.”  - Revelation 20:14

How can we go to heaven when we die?

Romans 5:8  “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ dies for us.”

Understand your state before God as a sinner, condemned to pay your debt to Him by going to hell.  Realize that God, who loves you in spite of your sin, sent Jesus Christ to take your punishment on Himself.

Romans 10:9-10, 13  “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

God calls believing on Christ “being saved.”  It is trusting what He said in His word and acting on that trust.

What exactly do I do now?

Realize that you are lost.  Realize that Christ died for your sins.  Ask Him to forgive you and save you.  You can use your won words, or use this prayer:

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner.  I deserve hell. But you sent Jesus to die for my sins.  I believe that

He died and rose again.  I ask you to forgive my sins right now, once and for all.  I receive Jesus Christ

as my Savior.  Please come into my heart and save me.  Help me to know that I am saved, and help me

to live for you for the rest of my life.  Amen.

Did you mean what you prayed?  If you did, you received forgiveness and salvation from God.
